The Department of Education funds captioning and video description to educational media provided by Dicapta

The U.S. Department of Education’s funding for Television Access has been Dicapta's fuel to providing captioning and video description to educational media, allowing us to continue our commitment to serving the community of individuals who have visual and/or hearing disabilities.  Through three consecutive grants awarded by the Department of Education, captioning and video description have been added to educational media allowing people with audio and visual limitations to benefit from this program.

Dicapta inserts caption and video description in educational programs broadcasted by  HITN – Hispanic Information and Telecommunication Network and V-Me

The Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network, Inc. (HITN) was established in 1983 as a non-profit organization with a mission to advance the educational, cultural, and socio-economic aspirations of Hispanics in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. HITN is a unique network that “Educates and Entertains.” It offers television programs, genres, and topics that enrich U.S. Latino families with knowledge, culture, information and enjoyment.

V-Me is the first national Spanish-language television network presented by public television stations. V-me entertains, educates and inspires families in Spanish with a youthful, contemporary mix of original productions, exclusive premieres and acquisitions, and popular public television programs specially adapted for American Latinos.
These programs are for Hispanic children and adults with hearing or visual disabilities who live in The United States and Puerto Rico. These programs can be watched on satellite TV, cable or with an antenna.

Both captioning and video description can be easily activated by using the remote control of a television set, and both are available for a wide variety of television programs.

You can now enjoy "Calentamiento Global" with Captions and Video Description on HITN.

Captioning allows deaf people, people with hearing disabilities, people that are learning Spanish or people who are located in a noisy environment to read a transcription of the program that is being broadcasted on a screen.

Video description offers similar help to blind people or those with visual disabilities. Video description consists of a narration that describes images throughout a program during silent spaces.
