"Había una vez: feminicidio” will premiere with accessibility elements on Canal 22 International

“Había una vez: feminicidio” will premiere with accessibility elements on Canal 22 International. This documentary by the filmmaker, journalist and teacher Jacaranda Correa shows, through various testimonies and intimate experiences, the gender violence that women live in the State of Mexico.

From January to September 2022, almost two femicides per day have been registered in Mexico, that is, approximately 695, according to data from the Mexican National Public Security System (SESNSP).

Despite the fact that there are cases such as those of Debanhi Escobar and Ariadna Fernanda that set off alarms on social networks and reach headlines around the world, this evil continues to be an endemic problem in Mexican society.

This documentary seeks to go beyond the  typical answers that put mafias and drug trafficking as the main responsible for violence against women to argue that, in reality, the seeds of a femicide are planted at home. With heartbreaking testimonies, it is one of Canal 22's must-see documentaries.

Accessibility for this documentary will be available through the All4Acess application.

The audio description and captions of these shows are made available through the work of Dicapta and are funded by the US Department of Education under project H327C210001, "Enhanced Video Access for Students with Sensory Impairments Through Emerging Technology - EnhAccess."
