United Skates

As America's last standing roller rinks are threatened with closure, United Skates spotlights a community fighting in a racially charged environment to save the underground African-American subculture of roller skating, which has been overlooked by the mainstream for generations--yet has given rise to some of the world's greatest musical talent. These roller skating rinks have served as safe spaces for people to gather, showcase their skills, and build connections. However, this documentary highlights a concerning trend of these rinks disappearing, leading to the erosion of the tight-knit communities they once nurtured.
