A peek into the eyesight of a person with visual impairment
A young man, from England, has created a short video talking about how he sees. His name is Alfie Fox. He suffers from Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI), caused by damages on his occipital lobes.
His case serves to point out that not all visual losses are the same. Depending on the reason for the vision loss people may experiment tunnel vision, double vision, patchy or blurry vision, inability to adjust to changes of lighting, colors that seem faded, and so on. In the case of Alfie, since his vision loss is due to a neurological problem he does not have, for example, depth perception or ability to identify certain shapes. But, I won’t tell you everything related to Alfie’s vision. You have to watch his 4 minute video.
